On July 2nd, with the arrival of the second - batch of Chinese and foreign students, our 2023 - level China - France class family finally reunited in Paris again. After a night's rest, the students started the long - awaited research trip today.
At 8:30 in the morning, the students arrived at the laboratory on time and, according to the pre - arranged groups, began the testing work on the water quality samples collected in the Fontainebleau Forest yesterday in an orderly manner.
Today's water quality testing is mainly to prepare for the subsequent detailed analysis and initially determine the content of some substances. In order to improve the testing efficiency, each group was further divided into three sub - teams: “microscopic observation”, “molecular biology testing” and “physical and chemical property analysis”. Each of the three sub - teams has two members, carrying out water quality identification work from three different directions. The “molecular biology and organic chemistry analysis” sub - team I am in is mainly responsible for the extraction of organic substances in water and the quantitative detection of various trace components. This is a delicate job, as each component and each index has a different testing method, which made us a little dazzled for a while. Fortunately, the teachers are experienced, and each guidance hits the point where we are most confused. Under their careful guidance, we quickly mastered the key points and completed the testing.
After lunch, we took a bus to a small town about a hundred kilometers away from Paris, Montargis. This small town was the core gathering place of the Chinese work - study program in France in the early 20th century. More than 360 aspiring young people, including Deng Xiaoping, Cai Hesen, Xiang Jingyu, Chen Yi, and Li Fuchun, once gathered here to work and study, exploring the truth of saving the country. At the same time, it is also the venue of the famous “Montargis Conference”, carrying a turbulent history and leaving an indelible red mark.
Getting off the bus, the first word that came to our mind was “beautiful scenery”. The spired bell - towers with a western flavor, the tranquil brooks with rippling waves, and the green trees and fountains set off each other, creating a peaceful and harmonious scene.
The first stop of the visit, the “Montargis Memorial Hall of Chinese Students Working and Studying in France” is a three - storey French - style building with a history of more than 300 years. Through real objects, pictures, texts and historical documents, it shows the course of the Chinese students studying in France, spreading Marxism and exploring the road to save the country. Walking among the exhibits, we seemed to travel through time and come to the Chinese students studying in France a hundred years ago, thinking with them about how to seize that glimmer of life in the face of internal and external troubles, and how to use the sharp sword of Marxism to open up a way to save the country in the face of powerful enemies. This made us deeply realize the difficulty of the Chinese revolution and the burning hearts of the revolutionary predecessors to save the country.
Next, we stepped into the Dugy Park. This park is like a green pearl inlaid on the land of Montargis, and it was a red melting - pot where the young people studying in France collided with ideas. In July 1920, members of the New People's Study Society studying in France, such as Cai Hesen and Xiang Jingyu, held a meeting here to discuss the methods of transforming China and the world, and put forward the proposition of establishing a new - democratic party, sowing an important ideological spark for the Chinese revolutionary cause. In a corner of the park, next to the “Great Footsteps” sign, the mottled black - and - white photo seemed to show us a group of young people in the prime of life, full of youthful spirit, arguing and discussing for the great cause of saving the country.
Leaving the Dugy Park, we came to the Deng Xiaoping Square. In 2014, in memory of Deng Xiaoping's work - study program here, the city named the square in front of the railway station “Deng Xiaoping Square”. In the center of the square, the towering “Centennial Monument” sculpture is particularly eye - catching. It vividly depicts the heroic posture of Chinese aspiring young people studying in France and exploring the road to save the country, condensing the important history of Sino - French exchanges, and witnessing the hard - working of the revolutionary predecessors working and studying here.
The Dugy Park and the Deng Xiaoping Square echo each other. They are not only the witnesses of that magnificent history, but also the inheritance places of the revolutionary spirit and the symbols of the deep - seated friendship between China and France. Walking among them, we seemed to feel the pulse of history beating, and the blood and pride of the predecessors surging in our hearts. All these left an indelible deep impression on us.
In the evening, the teachers and students of the University of Paris - Saclay held a warm welcome party for our China - France family. The French leaders of the Sino - French joint - program in biological science, professor Janek professor Fisson and teacher Audrey respectively delivered speeches, warmly welcoming our arrival. The municipal councillor Dominique MARQUÉ also came to the scene to express her welcome and encouragement to us. Before the party officially started, all the Chinese and French teachers and students took a group photo. At the moment the shutter was pressed, another witness of Sino - French friendship was preserved in each of our hearts. The sumptuous dinner and the warm - hearted friends at the party made us feel the joy of being at home in a foreign country. The students had warm exchanges with the teachers and students of the University of Paris - Saclay, enhancing their understanding of each other's cultures. Everyone ended today's journey in this happy and noisy atmosphere, full of anticipation for the wonderfulness of tomorrow.
